Miele is stepping up their filter game with their upgraded HA 30/50 HEPA vacuum filter. Their revamped design is Class 13 HEPA certified, which means that these filters will now remove 99.95% of allergens and asthma-causing particles that are 0.3 microns and larger. This is a 0.45% upgrade from the 99.5% efficiency of their old design. That may not seem like much of an upgrade, but homeowners that suffer from bad allergies or asthma will notice an immediate difference in filter performance. Also, because European standards are particularly stringent regarding filtration—especially HEPA filtration, a 0.45% increase is much more significant than it seems. Miele has always strived to meet and beat those tough standards, and with their upgraded HEPA filtration, they are certainly offering some of the best—if not the best HEPA filters on the market.
Significant testing was needed to accomplish this filtration upgrade. The superior suction power of Miele vacuums requires a filter that is able to handle it. Filters that do not allow for maximum airflow means that some absorbed particles will not be able to pass through the filter and instead we be forced out of the sides of the vacuum because of back pressure. In other words, a filter that cannot support its machine’s airflow will lose a large amount of particulate allergens into the air. Miele’s ingenious new filter design has been thoroughly tested for maximum efficiency and will allow the powerful suction of the Miele vacuum to operate unencumbered.
But aside from being an efficient filter that provides superior filtration, the new HA-30/50 is also a very user-friendly. Their new design features a touch-activated time strip, which will tell the user when the active material has expired and when the HEPA filter needs to be replaced. The lifespan of the HEPA filter remains the same—40 hours of run time, or about 12 months for the average homeowner, but thankfully this exciting new feature takes out all of the guess work.
And remember, this upgraded in Miele’s HEPA filter technology will affect both the Miele HA 30 filter and the Miele HA 50 filter, so regardless of which Miele vacuum you have—canister or upright, you’ll be able to take advantage of Miele’s vast upgrade in HEPA filtration!
