Take some simple steps to get your garage cleaned and organized. Start early in the day. Empty the garage in order to clean effectively. Try to get the help of the children so they can see how to keep items in order. Sort out anything not needed, store what you want to save, recycle items, and donate unwanted items to a charity of your choice.
Measure and plan your space accordingly. Rather than have scattered equipment on the floor, organize and group items together. Bikes, bike helmets, soccer or basketball equipment, golf and sporting goods, fishing rods, skiing in one section; all lawn and garden supplies and equipment in another section. Use wall hooks for bikes and garden supplies, peg boards for tools, storage bins and plastic containers for items that need to be stored. Label all items so you can easily find what you need. A shoe rack will help keep the shoes, sneakers, boots, and other footwear neat and in order and easy to find.
Keep dangerous tools, toxic or hazardous chemicals out of the reach of your children and pets. Have a lockable cabinet to store these items. Check expiration dates on paints, chemicals, and toxic material to discard if need be, check out local recycling guidelines. Try green options in the future.
Vacuum and dust using a garage vacuum. This type of vacuum saves floor space and is wall mountable, it takes up little space and has a long hose with several attachment tools and accessories. Garage vacuums can also be used to vacuum your car.
Replace batteries on your garage door opener. Now you will be able to park your car in the garage and have all organized.
